Van Bommel eyes Dutch veteran Zenden for Belgian staff

Mark van Bommel is set to add former Netherlands international Boudewijn Zenden to the technical staff of the Belgian national team, according to a report published today. The move would see the 49‑year‑old former 54‑cap defender join Van Bommel’s side as an assistant.

According to Het , Zenden is being positioned as one of Van Bommel’s assistants. The report the two previously worked together during their time at PSV.

Zenden enjoyed a distinguished playing career, featuring for PSV, FC Barcelona, Chelsea, Liverpool and Olympique Marseille. His experience spans the top leagues of the Netherlands, Spain, England and France.

In 2013, Zenden served as an assistant coach at Chelsea, a season in which the club captured the Europa League trophy. This coaching stint adds European success to his résumé.
