Valuation clash clouds Liverpool’s double swoop for Barcola, Mbaye

Valuation clash clouds Liverpool’s double swoop for Barcola, Mbaye

Liverpool are reported to be back in talks with Paris Saint‑Germain to secure a double swoop for Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye, aiming to fill the void left by Mohamed Salah’s departure and boost Andoni Iraola’s attack. The French club values Barcola at £130 million and Mbaye at £42 million, while the teenager has already agreed to a five‑year deal.

Andoni Iraola’s side have been hunting a replacement for Salah since his exit, and the duo from PSG represent the most prominent options to restore firepower on the wings.

Valuation gap stalls double swoop

Liverpool have pursued Barcola for several weeks but have not reached an agreement on a transfer fee, with PSG reportedly setting a £130 million price tag. Mbaye, the 18‑year‑old Senegalese prospect, is also priced at £42 million, a figure that Liverpool deem challenging.

According to French journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Mbaye has signed personal terms on a five‑year contract, turning down interest from Bayer Leverkusen to prioritise a move to Anfield.

Liverpool’s spending power under scrutiny

Last summer the Reds were prepared to spend £116 million on Florian Wirtz and £125 million on Alexander Isak, showing they have the resources to meet high valuations. PSG appears to be using the £100 million‑plus moves for Elliot Anderson and Morgan Rogers as benchmarks for Barcola’s price.

Negotiations remain delicate; both clubs must align on the combined valuation of the two wingers before any deal can be finalised.
