United’s Kane bid stalls as INEOS backs Carrick amid Bayern confidence

United’s Kane bid stalls as INEOS backs Carrick amid Bayern confidence

Manchester United face a double dilemma as they chase Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane while co‑owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe watches INEOS weigh up manager Michael Carrick’s future, sources told TEAMtalk on September 14. The 33‑year‑old reached 100 Bundesliga goals in Bayern’s 2‑1 win at Elversberg, and United’s recent 1‑0 loss to Manchester City at Old Trafford adds pressure.

Bayern’s confidence in Kane

Bayern Munich remain convinced they can retain Kane. Transfer insider Graeme Bailey reported on September 14 that the Bundesliga champions believe their relationship with the England captain is strong and that he is committed to the project in Munich. He had first flagged United’s interest on August 10, noting a potential 2027 deal.

Sources said co‑owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is a big fan of Kane and would love to see the striker star for the Red Devils at Old Trafford. The striker is out of contract at Bayern at the end of the season, and United are prepared to negotiate a deal.

Fabrizio Romano revealed that INEOS have no intention of dismissing Michael Carrick despite United’s four points from four Premier League games. The co‑owners appointed Carrick permanently after he guided United to Champions League qualification for the 2026/27 campaign.

United’s managerial and contract negotiations

United’s start to the new season has been uneven, highlighted by a 1‑0 defeat to ten‑man Manchester City at Old Trafford on Sunday. Romano said on his YouTube channel that the club remains convinced the future is bright under Carrick.

“Man Utd absolutely remain convinced that the future will be bright under Michael Carrick,” Romano said. He added that the squad’s confidence remains high despite the early setbacks.

Romano also updated on Bruno Fernandes, noting that talks on a new contract began before the World Cup and have continued through July, June, August and recent weeks. A clause in his deal allows United to extend for another season, but no agreement has been reached yet.

With Bayern insisting Kane’s decision is a matter of when rather than if, and INEOS focused on supporting Carrick, United’s pursuit of the England striker hangs in the balance. The club says it will monitor developments closely as the summer window approaches.
