United's crisis deepens, while Wirtz shines at Liverpool

In the packed Dean Court stadium, AFC Bournemouth fans cheer, while the Red Devils of Manchester United silently leave the field after a 0:3‑defeat. The loss deepens the champion’s crisis, and at the same time Florian Wirtz creates a stir at Liverpool.

Crisis at United after defeat

Manchester United, England's record champion, have secured only one win from eight league games. Currently the team sits in 16th place in the Premier League and 20th place in the Champions League, which further increases the pressure on manager Michael Carrick. The few victories of the Red Devils are not enough to stave off relegation.

Carrick left captain Bruno Fernandes on the bench for over 90 minutes after the Portuguese had criticized the coach’s tactics following a 1:4‑defeat in the Champions League in Como. On the pitch the team showed no reaction, and the question remains: Will this have consequences for manager Carrick?

Against the Roses‑team, the Brazilians hit Rayan in the 38th minute, Marcus Tavernier in the 43rd and Evanilson in the 71st, securing the clear 0:3‑victory. This further plunged AFC Bournemouth into United’s crisis and proved that the side under Marco Rose can be dangerous.

Wirtz's contribution to Liverpool's win

At Anfield, Liverpool FC defeated Brighton & Hove Albion 2:0, ending their winning streak. Florian Wirtz was involved in the early lead when his shot was deflected by Pascal Groß and counted as an own goal, giving the Reds a 1‑0 lead.

Alexander Isak increased the lead in the 21st minute after a perfect pass from Bradley Barcola to 2‑0, while Wirtz was substituted in the 65th minute after having to leave the field for ankle treatment. The win catapulted Liverpool to fourth place in the table, just one point behind Brighton.

United’s defeat increases the pressure on Michael Carrick, while rumours about a possible signing of former national coach Julian Nagelsmann fuel the speculation. At the same time AFC Bournemouth under manager Marco Rose shows that the Roses‑team is well prepared for surprises in the Premier League.
