United probe West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville after relegation
Manchester United have made contact with West Ham United regarding winger Crysencio Summerville, the 24‑year‑old who recorded two goals and two assists for the Netherlands at the World Cup. He also contributed seven goals and five assists for West Ham before their relegation on the final day of the season.
The Standard report noted, “Summerville’s representatives have been approached by Man Utd regarding the terms of a potential deal”, and added that “any conversations have been exploratory, with no club‑to‑club talks taking place”. This stage tests salary expectations, role and appetite before valuation becomes the focus.
Summerville’s World Cup performance highlighted his productivity, while his club figures show he maintained output despite West Ham’s struggles. His ability to deliver under pressure is underscored by the seven goals and five assists he logged across all competitions.
West Ham are under pressure to sell players this summer, a situation partially eased after the sale of Mateus Fernandes to Tottenham Hotspur for a fee in the region of £85 million. The club also hold an interest in Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu, with Leicester open to offers between £15‑£20 million.
In addition, West Ham exercised a £1 million option to make Venezuelan winger Keiber Lamadrid’s loan from Deportivo La Guaira permanent, while Jarrod Bowen continues to attract interest from other clubs.
From United’s perspective, the club needs a winger who can provide structure, stretch defences and choose the correct final action. Summerville’s speed, directness and experience of carrying responsibility fit the profile United have identified.
If the price proves sensible and the tactical role is clear, United could complete a purposeful signing, reflecting a measured approach rather than a headline‑driven gamble.
