UEFA imposes fan ban for Nations League match in Belgrade

Within the UEFA Nations League, the European football association has handed down a strict ruling against Serbia: for the upcoming group match on 13 November in Belgrade, no spectators may enter the Rajko Mitic stadium, as the country is being punished for racist riots.

UEFA sanction and fan ban

UEFA justified the decision by citing racist and discriminatory behaviour by Serbian supporters in the recent matches against Greece (1‑2) and the Netherlands (1‑2). In addition, a fine of €50 000 will be imposed. The Serbian federation is also to receive a two‑year ban on foreign fans for the away match in Belgrade.

Implications for Germany and Serbia

The report comes from the news and transfers section of the platform, which, in addition to an active community, also offers gaming recommendations, support and premium services, as well as video content. There visitors can find the latest transfers, all news and extensive analyses of the Bundesliga. The site combines market‑value analyses with forum discussions and is aimed at player agents and fans alike.

The Serbian football federation plans to soften the ban by allowing children and up to 2 000 German fans access, possibly via a mini‑setting. UEFA, however, has not yet confirmed any concrete measures. Without clear guidelines it remains uncertain whether German travelers will receive a ticket at all.

The Rajko Mitic stadium holds roughly 55 000 seats. Already in the first leg in Munich on 1 October, the German side under Jürgen Klopp won 2‑0, while the Serbian federation was prohibited from selling tickets to its own fans. For further violations Serbia must pay almost €80 000.

For the current offence Serbia must, in addition to the fine, pay another almost €80 000 for previous violations. The two‑year exclusion of away fans is intended to temper the atmosphere for the German eleven in Belgrade. As a result the team will miss the usual heated ambience.

After a shaky start Germany sit five points behind the Netherlands and Greece, who each have eight points, and occupy third place. Only the two group winners will qualify for the knockout round in March 2027; a third‑place finish could force the German side into a relegation playoff for the Nations League B‑League. Serbia is already at the bottom of the table with zero points.
