UEFA hands out over 31 million euros to clubs for Nations League player releases

UEFA announced on Tuesday, 29 September 2026, that it will distribute roughly 31.5 million euros to clubs that supplied players for the 2024/25 Nations League, marking the first payment under the current UEFA Club Benefits Programme. Each eligible appearance will earn clubs €3.845.

Payment structure unveiled

The allocation forms part of a broader €104 million tranche earmarked for clubs releasing players for the 2024/25 and 2026/27 Nations League editions and for the Euro 2028 qualifiers. The overall programme budget totals €244 million, with €140 million reserved for clubs whose players feature in the final tournament phases.

Payments are calculated on a player‑per‑match basis, with €3.845 awarded for every appearance in a Nations League fixture or a European qualifier. For the Euro 2028 qualifying stage, the calculation will shift to a player‑per‑day basis, reflecting a different remuneration model.

Leipzig tops the payout list

Among the 611 clubs across all UEFA member associations, the German side from Leipzig will receive the highest single‑payment amount, approximately €353 000, after providing 16 players for the competition. The programme also benefits numerous amateur clubs, underscoring its inclusive design.

Officials stress long‑term club benefits

UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin said, "The club support programme recognises the fundamental contribution clubs make to the success of national teams. By sharing UEFA Euro and Nations League revenues, we reward clubs of every size for developing players and making them available for their countries."

European Football Clubs president Nasser Al‑Khelaïfi added, "The benefits programme is a cornerstone of the strategic partnership between UEFA and EFC. Over 600 clubs of all dimensions will benefit from this first payment, reinforcing the vital link between club football and the international game."
