Udinese signs Alaba until 2027: Austrian defender on €2 million a year

Udinese has confirmed the arrival of David Alaba, Austrian defender who became a free agent at the end of his contract with Real Madrid, signing an agreement that will bind him to the Friulian club until June 30, 2027.

Contract and Salary

The new signing, 34 years old, has accepted a salary of around €2 million per season, a figure that would place him among the highest‑paid players in the white‑and‑black squad, although the club has not officially confirmed the amount.

Career and Experience

Alaba arrives in Serie A for the first time, offering Kosta Runjaic a unique wealth of experience, gained at Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, where he collected numerous international trophies.

Between 2010 and 2021 he amassed 431 appearances and 33 goals with Bayern Munich, winning two Champions League titles, ten Bundesliga titles, six German Cups and other European honours.

From 2021 to 2026 he continued to collect successes with the Blancos, adding another two Champions League titles, two Spanish league titles, one Copa del Rey and two Spanish Super Cups.

Role in the National Team and Motivations

For more than a decade he has been captain and a reference point for the Austrian national team, surpassing one hundred caps.

Alaba said: “I want to win again, compete again and achieve something special,” emphasizing that he does not see Udinese as the final stop of his career but as an ambitious project.

General manager Franco Collavino described the signing as “an established champion, a leader and an exemplary professional,” highlighting the club’s desire to grow and compete at the highest levels.

The defender added: “I am not coming just to be the team’s veteran and I am not here to finish my career. I am still too ambitious for that,” confirming his intention to contribute week after week to Udinese’s sporting project.
