Udinese secure veteran Alaba after clean medical in Rome

David Alaba, the 34‑year‑old former Real Madrid defender, has passed his medical in Rome and is set to travel north to Udine to sign a new contract with Udinese as a free agent. His contract with Real Madrid expired on June 30, leaving him without a club.

Medical cleared in Rome

The tests were carried out at the Villa Stuart clinic, Italy’s most renowned sports medical centre. Reports from Sky Sport Italia indicate no issues were flagged, granting Alaba the all‑clear to head north to Udine for the contract signature.

A December photograph taken at the Bernabeu in MADRID, SPAIN shows Alaba warming up for Real Madrid. The Austria international’s résumé includes four Champions League trophies, ten Bundesliga titles, two LaLiga crowns, three European Super Cups and three Club World Cups.

Udinese banks on Alaba to revive the Bianconeri in Serie A

In recent months Alaba had been linked with other Serie A sides as well as Union Berlin, Club America, Inter Miami and Al‑Sadd. The move to Udinese at age 34 therefore comes as a surprise.

Alaba will travel north to Udine to finalise a short‑term agreement with Udinese, adding veteran experience to the Serie A club’s defence.
