Udinese seals the deal: David Alaba ready to wear the Italian shirt

This afternoon Udinese confirmed the arrival of Austrian defender David Alaba, former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich player, ready to make his debut in Italy. The Friulian club, owned by the Pozzo family, signed the agreement with the player, who has been a free agent since the end of June.

Other interests before the signing

Before the transfer was finalized, Alaba was at the centre of several negotiations: Union Berlin, Club América of Mexico, Inter Miami of the United States and Al‑Sadd of Qatar had shown interest. In the end, however, Udinese's proposal proved more attractive for the defender.

The club announced the news on its social channels with a photo of the famous chair that Alaba lifted after scoring against Paris Saint‑Germain in the Champions League, thus confirming his arrival.

With 15 goals in 117 appearances for the Austrian national team, Alaba brings a rich résumé of 4 Champions League titles, 3 Club World Cups, 10 Bundesliga titles and numerous domestic trophies. Despite recent injuries, the player wants to prove his worth again in Serie A.

Udinese, led by German coach Kosta Runjaic, fields a three‑man defence. Alaba joins six other centre‑backs already on the roster, including Oumar Solet and Christian Kabasele.
