UCL Olise Scores as Bayern Munich deliver heavy win over Bodø/Glimt
Bayern Munich’s five‑goal demolition of Bodø/Glimt at the Allianz Arena on Thursday gave the reigning Bundesliga champions a commanding start to their UCL group, while Man United’s 4‑0 thrashing of Sabah FK at Old Trafford marked a confident return to Europe after almost three years.
Bayern’s dominant opening
The opening half remained dead‑locked until Bodø/Glimt goalkeeper Nikita Haikin suffered a serious injury, forcing a change that opened the door for Bayern to strike. Bayern Munich broke the deadlock immediately after the restart.
Jamal Musiala’s venomous half‑volley slotted home the first goal, setting the tone for a commanding five‑goal rout. The reigning Bundesliga champions doubled their lead before the hour‑mark.
Michael Olise’s incisive run earned a free‑kick that found Harry Kane’s head, his close‑range finish adding a second goal. Olise, who scored twice, later curled a textbook free‑kick from the edge of the box, completing his brace.
Alphonso Davies arrived on the end of a corner to unleash a rocket, extending the lead. Ismael Saibari replaced Musiala after the second goal, and a late red card for Björtuft left Bodø fully exposed.
Man United’s confident return
Man United thrash Sabah FK, celebrating their first Champions League appearance in almost three years by storming into a three‑goal lead at the break, with Matheus Cunha, Bruno Fernandes and Benjamin Sesko all finding the net.
Lisandro Martinez added a fourth goal in the second half, sealing a 4‑0 victory at Old Trafford. The win, though dominant, was not entirely free of anxiety for the English side.
