Trossard threatened with absence: Besiktas' heel under fire

The club released the statement on Saturday, confirming that the 31‑year‑old player, who had already scored against Erzurumspor, remains unavailable and that the Red Devil will lose his striker.

Diagnosis and club reaction

The Turkish club Besiktas announced that Leandro Trossard suffers from a traumatic bone edema in the calcaneus. “After successive matches, our player felt heel pain following blows received,” the statement said.

The 31‑year‑old striker had scored his first goal for the Black Eagles on September 11, in a 3‑0 league victory over Erzurumspor. However, he had to withdraw from the Europa League match against Marseille due to a minor injury.

Medical examinations, including MRIs and scans, confirmed the diagnosis of traumatic bone edema. The treatment was immediately taken over by Besiktas’s medical team.

The club did not specify the duration of the Red Devil’s unavailability. It simply stated that the medical follow‑up continues.

Recent career and national team

After leaving last summer the English champion Arsenal, Trossard chose to continue his adventure in Istanbul with Besiktas. This decision marks his first step into Turkish football.

Despite his injury, he appears on the first list of the new Red Devils coach, Mark van Bommel, for four Nations League matches announced on Friday. At the 2026 World Cup, the Limburg native had started all six games, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
