Trial success sees Takehiro Tomiyasu sign for Crystal Palace
Takehiro Tomiyasu has officially joined Crystal Palace on Friday, signing a permanent contract after a successful trial. The 27‑year‑old defender, who left Ajax on a free transfer, impressed the Eagles during pre‑season and secured a CDD with the London club.
Present with the Japon at the last Coupe du monde, the 27‑year‑old defender was on trial with the London side during pre‑season and ultimately persuaded Les Eagles to turn the trial into a CDD.
Revealed in Bologne, the Japonais joined Arsenal in 2021, but his progress was heavily hampered by injuries. Over three seasons Tomiyasu spent 629 days on the injury list and managed only six minutes of action in his final spell with the Gunners.
After five months as a free agent, Tomiyasu signed for Ajax in December 2025, where he featured in seven matches, starting only two of them.
The trial has been validated. The remaining challenge is to avoid frequent trips back to the injury bench.
