Tresoldi's rejected past: from Milan and Juventus to a Bruges star
In the roar of the San Siro, Nicolò Tresoldi capped a memorable night with a hat‑trick against Inter, but his story began much earlier, when at twelve he was rejected by Milan and Juventus along with other Italian clubs.
Rejections and early hopes
His only Italian coach, Marco Bedini, recalls that the young striker had tried to join Atalanta, Milan, Fiorentina, Bologna and Juventus, but all responded that “we already had players of that level”. Bedini adds that Tresoldi returned to Gubbio “as if nothing had happened” and kept scoring.
Son of Emanuele, former Siena defender, Tresoldi was deployed from a young age as a centre‑forward, despite his stature not being typical for the role. “I used him as a centre‑forward, even though he didn’t have the height and build of classic target men,” Bedini explained.
The jump to Germany and the rebirth at Bruges
In 2017 the family moved to Germany for the mother’s work, and in 2018 Tresoldi started in the youth team of Hannover 96. After years of development, he became a sensation at Club Brugge, confirming his worth with three goals in the 4‑3 win over Inter in the Champions League group stage.

The youngster, a Milan fan, said that scoring against Inter at the San Siro was “extra special”. Bedini recalls that, already at twelve, Tresoldi was scoring in every possible way, inspired by his hero Pippo Inzaghi.
Today, at twenty‑two, the striker is at the centre of an international tug‑of‑war: both Italy and Germany are vying for his allegiance. After turning down a recent call‑up from Roberto Mancini, Tresoldi confirmed that he has spoken with both Mancini and Jürgen Klopp, but is focusing on Germany’s U21.
