Tresoldi makes Inter in Mezza‑stadion, says before the match

Nicolò Tresoldi, the 21‑year‑old striker of Club Brugge, became the hero of the evening when he scored three times in the spectacular 3‑4 victory against Inter Milan at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium. For the AC‑Milan fan, his hat‑trick took on an extra charged meaning, because he himself is a keen Milan supporter.

The Italian‑German attacker said that before the match he received many messages from AC‑Milan supporters urging him to score. “I received many messages from AC Milan supporters before the match,” Tresoldi said. “They encouraged me to score and to win. It felt a bit like a derby.”

With three goals he was the big man in Club Brugge’s victory, which travelled to Milan without much effort and had a clear plan to put Inter under pressure. “We wanted to press high and not let them breathe, because they like to play against low blocks,” the coach explained.

Background and Future Outlook

Tresoldi, born in Cagliari, is the son of former left‑back Emmanuele, who played three times at the San Siro. After a youth that was rejected by several Italian clubs, he moved with his Argentine mother to Germany, where he joined the youth team at Hannover 96 and made his first senior appearance at the age of 18 in 2022.

In 2025 he signed for Club Brugge for a fee of €7.5 million. That summer he recorded nine goals in eleven matches, and he became the top scorer of the Belgian championship 2025‑2026 with 19 goals. In addition, he has 16 goals in 27 appearances for the German U19 and the Italian Espoir squads.

“He has developed from an excellent finisher into a complete attacker,” said Ivan Leko, coach of Club Brugge. Tresoldi confirmed that he has recently had talks with Jürgen Klopp and Roberto Mancini about his international future, but he now wants to focus on his club performances. “For now I enjoy the game with Brugge’s youth, we have a Euro to win, just like my father won with Italy,” the striker added.
