Tresoldi appears amid talks with Klopp and Mancini
After a week in which Nicolò Tresoldi spoke intensively with both Jürgen Klopp and Roberto Mancini, the Club Brugge striker let his feet do the talking in the 0‑4 victory of Germany U21 over Latvia. The match, played in Riga, offered a sharp contrast between the diplomatic talks and his goal in the 52nd minute.
Talks with the national coaches
The young forward, born in Sardinia and in Germany since his teenage years, told Sky Sport that Klopp made it clear that the door remains open for him with the German senior team. Regarding his talk with Mancini, he said the Italian national coach gave him the same message: for now he does not want to commit yet. These statements confirm that his international future is still undecided, despite his participation in the German youth teams since 2022.
Goal in Riga
On Saturday, Tresoldi started for Germany U21 in the Euro‑2027 qualification in Riga. After an early opening by Paris Brunner (former Cercle Brugge), who put the score at 0‑2 after 53 seconds, Tresoldi got a chance just before halftime, but Latvian goalkeeper Nikita Parfjonovs held firm. After the break he kept looking and scored in the 52nd minute with a deep lob, completing the 0‑3; later Arijon Ibrahimovic sealed the final score at 0‑4.
Germany thus recorded its seventh win in eight qualification matches and remains leader of group F. Tresoldi's strike came at a notable moment, as he had spoken a few days earlier about the choice between Germany and Italy. He indicated that he will decide after next year’s U21 Euro which country he wants to represent at senior level, meaning he remains available for Germany U21 until then.
The combination of diplomatic dialogue and a convincing performance on the pitch underlines why both Germany and Italy are eager to bind him permanently.
