Transferpush Real Madrid stalls as key players refuse to leave
Transferpush Real Madrid have opened formal talks with Manchester City for midfielder Rodri, even signing a personal agreement with the Engelse club, yet the Spaanse giants face a snag – no squad member appears ready to depart, jeopardising the move at this stage.
According to a source, Rodri has expressed a preference for a move to Real Madrid, and coach José Mourinho has already held a personal conversation with the player, after which the personal terms were agreed.
Manchester City is reportedly asking between fifty and sixty million euros for the thirty‑year‑old, who still has one season left on his contract.
Real Madrid hope to negotiate the fee down to keep the deal financially viable.
The Spanish side is also targeting Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig, a player whose price is said to exceed one hundred million euros.
With the squad already at the maximum of twenty‑five registered players, two departures are required before both Diomande and Rodri can be registered.
Current players named by Cadena COPE as the most likely exits are Raúl Asencio, Franco Mastantuono and Gonzalo García, yet none have shown willingness to leave.
Asencio is focusing entirely on convincing Mourinho to enable a transfer, while Mastantuono is only open to a temporary return to River Plate – a scenario Real Madrid does not favour because they prefer to sell rather than loan.
García’s situation remains unresolved; Real Madrid have not reached an agreement with Fulham on his possible move, leaving no clear path to free a squad place.
Today the club’s transfer strategy is hampered by the lack of willing departures, meaning the Rodri deal and the search for Diomande could be delayed until suitable exits are secured.
