Trabzonspor in crisis, Pioli in the sights to change course
After Tekke's departure, Trabzonspor finds itself in a critical phase: the team, which signed Mohamed Salah in the summer, has collected only seven points in five matchdays.
Pioli's profile
The Italian coach, cited by Ansa Foto and reported by, is 60 years old and has managed Milan and Al‑Nassr. Almost a year after his stint at Fiorentina, his last season in Serie A ended with four points in the first ten matchdays and without league successes, limiting himself to victories in the Conference League phase.
The Turkish club has also considered Antonio Conte and Raffaele Palladino, but Pioli remains one of the most concrete options for the bench.
The search for a new coach
According to what was gathered by Sky Sport in collaboration with Resat Can Ozbudak and Gianluca Di Marzio, Trabzonspor has initiated the first exploratory contacts with Pioli, now 60, to understand his availability to take the role in the just‑started 26/27 season.
In the meantime, the Trabzon team has started the Super Lig campaign with a disappointing result: two wins – against Istanbul Basaksehir and Genclerbirligi – and a loss against Konyaspor, for a total of seven points after the first five matchdays.
The crisis worsened in Europe, where Trabzonspor was eliminated from the Europa League 4‑0 by Ferencvaros, forcing the club to continue its journey in the Conference League.
The contrast between the search for an experienced guide and the club's stalemate highlights how crucial the decision on the bench is: a return of Pioli could represent the necessary turning point to reverse the course of a season so far below expectations.
