Totti remembers September 11, 2001 and warns Roma about the title
Francesco Totti, former captain of Roma, appeared yesterday at the World League Padel Tour and spoke about September 11, 2001, the day on which, 25 years later, he took the field with Roma in the Champions League clash against Real Madrid, describing it as surreal.
The memory of September 11
"September 11, more than the Roma-Real Madrid match, I remember it being completely surreal," Totti said, adding: "I would not have celebrated, for all the people who died." He emphasized that, even today, that terrible day remains etched in his memory.
The former captain explained that his reluctance to celebrate stems from respect for the victims, specifying that his thoughts go to those who lost their lives that day.
Roma's ambitions for the Scudetto
Totti then commented on the start of the season for the giallorossi, calling it unexpected: "I didn't expect this start to the season, I, like most people." He highlighted that the team began "with the accelerator floored" and that the sums will be decided in February–March.

Regarding the Scudetto, he stated: "Continuity is needed. The right players have been brought in but continuity is always required." He pointed to Inter as the toughest team to beat.
Comparisons and prospects for the team
"Different teams, different times and different players," Totti observed, comparing the current Roma with the 2001 Italian champions. He described both as "great" and praised the Malen‑Dybala duo, calling it one of the strongest in Serie A.
The captain concluded hoping that Malen and Dybala can continue like this, keeping the team's level high.
