Tottenham weigh huge 2027 offer for Udogie despite his injury woes
Tottenham Hotspur say they could cash in on left‑back Destiny Udogie next year if a sufficiently large offer arrives, yet Roberto De Zerbi still regards the 23‑year‑old Italian as a valuable squad member. The contrast pits a potential sale against the player’s importance when fit.
Udogie has endured another disrupted campaign because of fitness problems, starting only two of Spurs’ opening seven Premier League matches. The 23‑year‑old’s intermittent availability has hampered his ability to cement a regular place.
His most recent setback followed an impressive display against Manchester United, where he completed 74 minutes before knee discomfort forced his exit. The performance reminded observers of his attacking qualities, yet the injury underscored his reliability concerns.
Injury woes limit Udogie's impact
According to Football Insider, Tottenham are not actively seeking to sell Udogie but would entertain a “huge” offer in 2027. The report notes he remains highly regarded when fit, although Andy Robertson currently sits ahead of him in the left‑back pecking order.
Tottenham confirmed on 19 October that Udogie missed the Coventry game after picking up the knee problem against Man United, with De Zerbi insisting the club would not take any risks. Over the past three years he has missed around 36 matches for club and country, despite having already made 100 appearances since joining from Udinese in 2023.
Transfer options and club's calculus
When at his best, Udogie is powerful, quick, aggressive in transition and comfortable driving forward from deep, traits that are difficult to replace. However, his reliability remains in question, and De Zerbi has repeatedly spoken about needing to manage him carefully.
Robertson’s arrival gives Tottenham more flexibility, while Ben Davies and Micky van de Ven can also cover the left side. The club’s stance, therefore, appears sensible rather than ruthless, preferring to wait for a premium fee from a Serie A or other European side.
If Udogie can stay fit, he still has the talent to reclaim the left‑back position. Should injuries persist, a sizeable 2027 offer may become increasingly difficult for Spurs to reject.
