Tottenham watches Kim Min‑Jae’s future at Bayern Munich

Tottenham watches Kim Min‑Jae’s future at Bayern Munich

Tottenham are closely monitoring the situation of Kim Min-jae at Bayern Munich, a 29‑year‑old South Korean defender still under contract until 2028. The German club, led by Vincent Kompany, has indicated the possibility of considering a sale if they manage to strengthen the defence with a new signing.

Defensive hierarchy at Bayern

Kim Min-jae has slipped down Kompany’s hierarchy, finding himself behind Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah in the selection of starters. Despite his limited playing time, the defender has not been explicitly excluded from the squad, but his status as the third choice was confirmed by TeamTalk.

Possible destinations for Kim Min-jae

According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham, Aston Villa and AC Milan have already made contact about the player during the summer. Juventus was mentioned among the clubs monitoring the situation, but so far has not made a formal offer.

Bayern would have set a figure around £30 million as the threshold to persuade the German champions to let go of Kim Min-jae next summer. That amount is considered relatively modest compared with the market values of top‑level defenders.

A January move is deemed unlikely; TeamTalk notes that the most realistic window would be the following summer, when Bayern can better assess its defensive options.

For Tottenham, the interest stems from the need to add experience and authority to the back line. Kim Min-jae, with experience in high‑level European competitions, would represent a quality reinforcement for the Spurs, who have shown defensive frailties this season.

The defender’s future will largely depend on Bayern’s decisions in the coming months. If Kim Min-jae continues not to be a starter, Tottenham could step forward again, although the player’s desire to stay in Munich keeps the negotiation open.
