Tottenham stick with De Zerbi despite Everton stalemate

Tottenham Hotspur have ruled out any immediate dismissal of head coach Roberto De Zerbi after a goalless home draw with Everton on Saturday, confirming the board’s patience despite the side sitting just above the relegation zone on two points after four winless league games.

The club narrowly avoided relegation last season and then splashed over £300 million on new signings during the summer, raising hopes for a markedly better campaign this term.

Yet the squad remains winless in its first four Premier League fixtures, having collected only two points and lingering just above the drop zone.

Saturday night’s 0‑0 stalemate at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was met with boos from Spurs supporters at the final whistle, reigniting speculation about De Zerbi’s future.

Club backs De Zerbi

Tottenham officials are reportedly ruling out any parting of ways with De Zerbi at this stage, insisting there will be no knee‑jerk reactions. Journalist Pete O’Rourke told Football Insider, “Two points from four games is not good enough, but there’s still time on his side and the board are fully behind him.”

De Zerbi later told reporters the squad is suffering from a “mental block”, saying, “We have to unblock ourselves, find the goals and show the quality of our play.” So the manager remains confident of a turnaround.
