Tottenham’s stalled £65 million bid for Man City Savinho

Negotiations over a £65 million transfer of Manchester City winger Savinho to Tottenham have stalled, with the Brazilian returning to the City Football Academy on Monday as the fee disagreement remains unresolved and both clubs continue talks about his future.

Savinho has been strongly linked with a move to Tottenham throughout the summer window, with official contacts reported, the player’s preference for north London and personal terms understood to have been agreed before any formal offer was lodged.

The Brazilian winger joined Manchester City from the City Football Group’s Troyes in 2024 and recorded ten goals and fourteen assists in forty‑eight appearances during his debut campaign, showcasing his attacking potential.

A more difficult 2025‑26 season saw a pre‑season injury and increased competition for places limit his involvement under Pep Guardiola, reducing his minutes on the pitch.

Manchester City’s valuation of Savinho at £65 million has been cited as the primary sticking point, with Tottenham reportedly unwilling to meet the full amount, creating a gap that has prevented the clubs from reaching a common ground.

On Monday Savinho reported back to the City Football Academy alongside the rest of the squad available to Enzo Maresca, underscoring that he remains a Manchester City player until a transfer is formally concluded, while Tottenham adopt a patient approach, monitoring the situation and waiting for more favourable conditions.

For Manchester City, director of football Hugo Viana gains leverage from the stalemate, and Maresca gains the opportunity to assess Savinho’s role in pre‑season plans; if Tottenham eventually presents an improved offer that bridges the valuation gap, the transfer could proceed, otherwise the 22‑year‑old is likely to remain at the Etihad for another season as the window draws to a close.
