Tottenham eye €20m Richarlison exit as Brazilian deadline looms
Tottenham need to resolve Richarlison's situation quickly after leaving him out of their Premier League squad, meaning he cannot feature for the club until at least January. The club therefore prefer to cash in rather than keep a player who is unavailable for the first half of the season.
Vasco's €20m bid and deadline pressure
Vasco Da Gama have tabled a €20million offer for the 29‑year‑old striker, a move that would bring him back to Brazilian football for the first time since leaving Fluminense in 2017. The Brazilian deadline day is today, and the club are pushing to finalise the deal before the transfer window closes later today. TEAMtalk reports a race against time as Vasco aim to secure the permanent signing.
Tottenham have indicated they are ready to accept Vasco’s €20million (£17.2m / $23.2m) package and are now waiting on Richarlison’s decision. The club’s willingness follows their decision to omit him from the Premier League squad, which means he cannot play for Spurs in England until January at the earliest.
Richarlison seeks short‑term solution
Richarlison has expressed a desire to return home but prefers a short‑term arrangement that runs only until January, after which he would reassess his future. He turned down a chance to rejoin former club Everton and a proposed move to Trabzonspor collapsed on Turkish deadline day last week, leaving him keen on a temporary Brazilian spell.
His camp, as revealed by TEAMtalk on Thursday, is also exploring whether a FIFA route could cancel his Tottenham contract, citing the precedent set by Renan Lodi, who terminated his deal with Al‑Hilal after being left out of the squad.
Tottenham are not prepared to cancel the remaining nine months of Richarlison’s contract. The club holds an option to extend his deal until 2028, allowing them to retain his registration and protect his potential transfer value.
The final hurdle remains the structure of the deal. Both sides must agree on terms that satisfy Richarlison’s short‑term preference before Brazil’s deadline closes, otherwise the transfer could fall through.
