Torino's €16m hurdle for Perri as Leeds set sights on Trafford

Torino face a pressing need for a reliable shot‑stopper after their previous goalkeeper departed, and they have identified 28‑year‑old Brazilian Lucas Perri as the solution. The Italian club is prepared to meet the €16 million fee that accompanied his move from Olympique Lyon to Leeds United, aiming to secure his services promptly.

The €16 million fee that Leeds United paid for Perri now looms over Torino’s pursuit, but the Italian side remains confident of finalising the deal. Leeds have already earmarked English youngster James Trafford as his replacement, signalling a clear plan for both clubs.

Multiple sources in Italy say Torino are closing in on the signing of Lucas Perri from Leeds United. The reports stress that the deal is advancing rapidly.

Sky Sport Italia and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano both report that Torino are close to signing the 28‑year‑old Brazilian goalkeeper, adding credibility to the transfer narrative. Their statements add weight to the ongoing negotiations.

Gianluca Di Marzio notes that Leeds are becoming increasingly confident of securing James Trafford from Manchester City, and that this confidence will pave the way for Perri’s move to the Stadio Grande Torino.

Fabrizio Romano adds that “final details are being sorted” between Torino and Leeds United, indicating negotiations are in their concluding phase. This comment suggests both parties are close to agreement.

Perri has previously played for Crystal Palace, Olympique Lyon and Leeds in Europe, joining Leeds a year ago from Lyon in a €16 million deal. On 5 April 2026, he saved a penalty from Jarrod Bowen during the Emirates FA Cup quarter‑final in London, and in his first and only season at Liverpool he conceded 29 goals in 16 Premier League appearances, keeping three clean sheets.

Torino are also in talks for defender Eray Cömert, a free‑agent ex‑Valencia player, and have appointed Ignazio Abate as their new coach for 2026‑27, underscoring a busy transfer window for the Italian club.
