Tomiyasu’s new injury rules him out for club and country

While Takehiro Tomiyasu has featured in Crystal Palace’s three‑back system, a fresh calf problem now again sidelines him for both club and country, with manager Pierre Sarr stating he will miss action until the upcoming next international match week this season.
Tomiyasu left Ajax at the end of last season and joined Crystal Palace permanently in the summer; he has made five official appearances under Sarr’s 3‑4‑2‑1 system.
He was named in Japan’s Kirin Challenge Cup 2026 and Kirin Cup 2026 squads but withdrew because of the calf injury, which also ruled him out of the European Conference League match with Beşiktaş and the last four league selections. Sarr confirmed Tomiyasu will miss until the next international window, with a possible comeback in late November, leaving him out of Crystal Palace’s fixtures against Newcastle, Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur, Hoffenheim and Liverpool and Japan’s November games versus Brazil and Paraguay, while no further injury details have been released.
