Three-year deal for Jack Evans gives Magpies a proven leader

Notts County have secured 25‑year‑old Jack Evans on a three‑year contract, paying an undisclosed fee to bring the Harrogate Town midfielder to the Magpies after his spell as captain and Player of the Season in English Football League last season.

Evans captained Harrogate Town on several occasions last season, a campaign that ended with the club’s relegation from the English Football League. His leadership was highlighted despite the team’s overall struggles.

During that season he featured in 48 matches and found the net twice. His consistent presence underscored his importance to the side.

The midfielder had arrived at Harrogate Town from FC Halifax Town in the summer of 2025. His prior experience in the lower tiers contributed to his development.

“Despite Harrogate’s struggles last season, Jack was one of the outstanding midfielders in the division,” Notts County director of football Richard Montague said. He praised Evans’s energy, aggression, work‑rate and leadership, believing they complement the Magpies’ existing midfield options.

The acquisition gives the Magpies a proven leader to bolster their midfield as they aim to improve their league standing. County’s management sees Evans’s prime‑year potential as key to their ambitions.

For Evans, the move offers a fresh challenge with a club that values his leadership qualities. He joins Notts County eager to help the team climb the English Football League hierarchy.
