Three Bundesliga talents shine in Guardian's list of 60 best youth players

While the Guardian has been compiling the 60 most promising talents worldwide each year since 2014, this year three players from the Bundesliga are in focus. The current list includes names such as Youssoufa Moukoko, Bukayo Saka and Rodrygo, but three young Bundesliga players receive special attention.

Insights into the three selected talents

The first candidate is Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kennet Eichhorn. His debut for Hertha BSC was described as elegant, calm and extremely efficient in central midfield, with his football intelligence being “much older than his actual age”. After 19 appearances for Hertha he moved to Bayer Leverkusen for nine million euros, where he has not yet featured due to a metabolic disorder.

The second name is Cassiano Kiala, a 17‑year‑old centre‑back who most recently played for FC Bayern Munich. Kiala is the club’s second‑youngest Bundesliga player, his contract runs until 2029, and according to the Guardian he was linked with Manchester City and Chelsea. In the current season he has featured five times for the record‑champion’s second team.

The third representative is Louis Lemke from Hamburger SV. Lemke, who will turn 17 in a few days, has already made five appearances for the first team and impressed in the DFB Cup with a goal and an assist.

All three players now appear together on the list of the British outlet that has been compiling the world’s most promising talents since 2014. Their inclusion highlights that the Bundesliga remains a fertile ground for young players who are already receiving international attention.
