Thomas Tuchel praises Bayern striker Harry Kane for extraordinary hunger

England's football national coach Thomas Tuchel said before the Nations League duel against the Czech Republic that he was strongly impressed by Bayern striker Harry Kane and emphasized his extraordinary hunger for records. The comment was made at London's Wembley Stadium, where Kane is playing his 125th international match.

Record numbers and personal goals

Tuchel explained that all nine‑meter strikers worldwide, regardless of league or youth football, are “a bit differently built.” He pointed out that Kane could equal Peter Shilton, England's record international player, in the upcoming match, as Kane has already scored 89 international goals.

“You will not find a goal‑scorer of this caliber who does not set such individual goals and pushes himself to his limits,” Tuchel continued, highlighting Kane's drive.

Since his move from Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern Munich in 2023, Kane has become the Bundesliga's top scorer in every season. In September, he reached the 100‑goal mark in his 98th Bundesliga match, becoming the fastest player in history to do so.

In the past season, the 33‑year‑old forward scored 61 goals in 51 competitive matches and is therefore considered a top contender for this year's Ballon d’Or.

Despite his impressive record, a major title with the national team has so far eluded him; he was runner‑up at the European Championship in 2021 and 2024 and secured third place at this year's World Cup.

With Bayern Munich, Kane has already won the German championship twice, the Supercup once, and the DFB‑Cup once.
