Thomas Müller stays with Vancouver Whitecaps until 2027

In Vancouver, where the mild winter light sparkles over BC Place, the 37‑year‑old Thomas Müller – former Bayern superstar – signs a new contract that binds him to the Whitecaps until June 30, 2027 and secures him for the upcoming MLS sprint season.

Contract secured until 2027

The contract, dated to the end of the year, was extended by another year and now runs until June 30, 2027. Müller, who has been playing for the Vancouver Whitecaps for just under a year, is therefore firmly committed for the upcoming season. The 37‑year‑old attacking player thus remains part of the Canadian squad for one more year.

MLS sprint season in focus

MLS plans to switch to the European calendar from summer 2027, meaning the league will run from autumn to spring. As a transitional measure, a heavily shortened sprint season will be held in February 2027 until the end of May. This unique short phase will also be contested by Müller with the Whitecaps.

"I have enjoyed my time here from the very beginning. Vancouver has welcomed me openly and warmly, and I have felt that spirit throughout the club," said Thomas Müller. "We play an attacking, possession‑based style of football that is fun both to play and to watch," he added, emphasizing the fans' enthusiasm.

Axel Schuster, sporting director of the Whitecaps, highlighted the great value of the veteran: "Since his arrival a little over a year ago, Thomas has fully embraced this club, this city and this province. He has further strengthened the winning mentality and shown how great his desire to win is. There is no doubt that, as a club, we have reached new heights since Thomas' arrival."

With the contract extension, the Vancouver Whitecaps demonstrate their aim to benefit long‑term from Müller's experience and to shape the new sprint season sportingly.
