Thioune trusts Karl Hein, Schlager remains without debut

Alexander Schlager will probably have to continue waiting for his debut in the German Bundesliga. Werder Bremen coach Daniel Thioune said on Thursday that he expects Karl Hein to be available, “I assume he will play,” ahead of the Friday away match at Borussia Dortmund.

Thioune explained that Hein had completed very good individual training and that his return to team training was planned for Thursday. Estonia's goalkeeper has returned to the league table in eighth place with a thigh bruise.

Austrian FA Planning and Attacking Strength

From the Austrian FA's perspective, defensive leader and captain Marco Friedl as well as attacking player Marco Grüll are firmly planned. The 28‑year‑old former Rapid player has so far scored two goals and provided four assists in the current season.

Midfielder Marcel Sabitzer has so far only been used as a substitute in the league matches, unlike his role in the Champions League and the DFB Cup. Carney Chukwuemeka remains uncertain due to minor muscle problems.

After a three‑week break, BVB coach Niko Kovac wants to get back into the rhythm immediately. He said: “I hope we can manage that, put in a good performance against Werder Bremen and pick up the necessary points to get back into the flow.” Dortmund leads the league unbeaten after four wins, while Werder Bremen has remained unbeaten in its last three matches.
