The wave of success keeps rolling, and Kompany must now watch it

Since Vincent Kompany took the helm at FC Bayern Munich, the team feels like it is in its own league, while last season it dominated at will and almost won the double in passing. What Kompany now has to watch is shown by the wave of success that starts with seven out of nine points, thanks to Harry Kane, who on Sunday evening delivered the 2‑1 away win against SV Elversberg.

Almost unchanged squad

The squad of the record champion has hardly changed for the new season. Only two notable newcomers arrived, Nathaniel Brown and Ismael Saibari, while Leon Goretzka, who had been an important building block, left the club in the Bavarian capital. Since Kompany's arrival, the composition of the record champion has remained largely constant. The record champion continues to rely on the proven mix.

Early season shows dominance and weaknesses

After the first three matchdays of the Bundesliga, Kompany's team sits with seven of a possible nine points, but not at the top of the table. The 0‑0 against the royal‑blue promoted side Schalke was the first Bundesliga match without a Bayern goal since February 2025, while the 2‑1 in Elversberg, thanks to Kane, dampened the critical swirl. While the rotation machine was already used in all three games, the dominance over the rest of the Bundesliga remains noticeable.

The elite offense around Harry Kane, Bukayo Olise and Luis Diaz created an unstoppable swirl last season and received worldwide recognition. This trio strength remains a central building block of the attacking power that puts the Munichers in danger in the league time and again.

Too much rotation too early could, however, endanger the Munichers if the critical voices are right. The team must find the balance since the start of the season so that the regained dominance is not diminished by its own mistakes.

In addition to the league matches, Kompany has already tested rotating line‑ups in the cup competitions, underscoring the versatility of the squad.

While Kompany continues to refine the line‑up, fans expect the Munichers to use the next games to keep the wave of success rolling and to cement the sought‑after dominance in the Bundesliga.
