Tessa Wullaert reaches 19th place in Ballon d’Or – top season rewarded

Tessa Wullaert (33) secured the 19th place in the voting for the Ballon d’Or Féminin, a wonderful recognition of her outstanding top season. The Belgian striker, who was nominated for the first time this year, finished among the biggest names of international women's football.

Top season in Italy and national milestone

After a summer transfer from Inter Milan to Como 1907, the Red Flame scored 14 goals in 22 matches this season, making her the top scorer of the Italian league. Additionally, she provided nine assists, making her the assist queen as well.

As captain of the Red Flames, the 33‑year‑old reached the magical milestone of 100 goals for the national team in March. With that achievement she confirmed her status as one of the most productive players in the history of Belgian women's football.

The Ballon d’Or organization announced the Ball between places 11 and 30 ahead of the ceremony; Wullaert was placed at an impressive 19th position, surrounded by the biggest names of international women's football.

Spanish Aitana Bonmati, who won the Ballon d’Or for the third consecutive year last season, missed this season due to a fracture in her left tibia and was not among the 30 nominees this year.

The Ballon d’Or Féminin has been awarded since 2018 by the French magazine France Football, while the men's version, presented later that same evening, has existed since 1956.
