Ter Stegen hails Barcelona as unstoppable under Hansi Flick

Marc-Andre ter Stegen, the 33‑year‑old German goalkeeper on loan at Ajax, returned to the Germany starting line‑up on Saturday, keeping a clean sheet as the side drew 1‑1 with the Netherlands. The former Barcelona captain praised Hansi Flick’s impact, calling the Blaugrana unstoppable.

Return to the national team

Ter Stegen said he felt good to be back representing Germany after a difficult spell. “I’m proud of the journey I’ve been on and everything I’ve given, given what I’ve been through in recent years, and now I’m just very happy to be back here,” he explained.

He added that his aim remains to be Germany’s number one goalkeeper. “My aim is always to be number one. To be 100 % fit and up to the task. And today was a good opportunity to prove that once again,” he said.

Barcelona’s unstoppable form

When asked about Barcelona’s recent performances, the loanee described the Blaugrana as “unstoppable”. “They’re unstoppable right now, and that’s what I wish for them because they’re working hard with Hansi as their manager, and I obviously wish them all the best from afar,” he concluded.

Despite his admiration for Barcelona, Ter Stegen emphasised his current priority lies with Ajax, where he is focused on his own business and recovery. He noted that he keeps an eye on Barcelona’s progress but remains dedicated to his duties at the Dutch club.

The 33‑year‑old goalkeeper has been on loan at Ajax since last summer, using the platform to rebuild his form after a challenging period at Barcelona. His performances for the Dutch side have helped him regain confidence ahead of international duties.
