Ten Hag thrilled by Zerrouki’s return to FC Twente'
28-year-old Ramiz Zerrouki completed his paperwork on Monday at FC Twente, confirming the official termination of his transfer to Feyenoord and his return to the Eredivisie side. The midfielder, who spent the previous season on loan, signed a four‑season deal, giving both club and player certainty ahead of the upcoming European fixture.
On Monday, Zerrouki was seen back on the training pitch at FC Twente before finalising the necessary paperwork. The completion of the documents officially ends his move to Feyenoord.
Technical director Erik ten Hag expressed great satisfaction with the development. He described himself as very happy about the midfielder's return.
"The definitive return of Ramiz Zerrouki to FC Twente is a very important transfer for the club and the player," Ten Hag wrote on the club website. "His profile is scarce, and we are delighted that Ramiz returns definitively." He added that Zerrouki proved last season to be a key player and a leader on and off the field, not least because he featured for Algeria at the World Cup.
Ten Hag noted that he has spoken with Zerrouki frequently in recent weeks. He observed that the midfielder shares the club's high ambitions. "Ramiz belongs at FC Twente," he affirmed, recalling that the player was secured on a four‑season contract.
Zerrouki welcomed the clarity about his future. "This is the step I wanted to take," he said. "The attention and effort from FC Twente have been remarkable, and the squad remains largely unchanged from last season, which feels familiar."
He added that he was already able to train with the team today, which energises him for the work ahead. In a few days FC Twente will play its first European match, a contest Zerrouki helped the club fight for last season. He expressed satisfaction at being able to join the squad for that fixture.
