Synowi of Maldini legend loses licence after Nocna crash

Synowi of Maldini legend Daniel Maldini was hailed on Saturday night when his decisive penalty secured Cagliari Calcio’s 2‑1 victory over Atalantą BC, yet hours later a Nocna crash in Mediolanie left him facing licence confiscation and a police alcohol test.

The penalty came in the final minutes of the match, turning a draw into a win and earning Maldini praise from teammates and fans alike as he converted the spot‑kick that sealed the 2‑1 result against Atalantą BC.

Around 5:00 am on the night from Saturday to Sunday, Maldini was driving a Porsche Carrera and attempted to force priority, resulting in a collision in the streets of Mediolanie.

Emergency services took him to the SOR department of a local hospital for examinations. He was later discharged to his home. His lawyer Danilo Buongiorno said Daniel feels well and has no injuries.

Alcohol test and licence seizure

Police performed two breath‑alcohol measurements. The first reading was 0.91 mg/l and the second 0.89 mg/l, both slightly above the Italian limit of 0.8 mg/l. Consequently, authorities confiscated the player’s driving licence.

Further blood analysis will determine whether additional substances are present, and could lead to further disciplinary action, underscoring the stark contrast between his on‑field heroics and off‑field troubles.
