Swedish allure drives Kaya Symons toward a Stockholm move

Kaya Symons is on the brink of leaving De Graafschap as the Zweedse transfer window nears its deadline, with an adventure in Scandinavië awaiting him, and Djurgården IF officially expressing interest in the attacking left‑back before the market closes for a final chance on Monday 31 August at 23:59.

While Djurgården IF eyes a swift acquisition, De Graafschap in Doetinchem weighs the financial upside of a summer departure. The Swedish side, currently fourth in Zweden, has already submitted an official proposal to the Doetinchemse club. Multiple Zweedse sources confirmed the approach to the Doetinchem club.

Djurgården's concrete pursuit

Djurgården IF wants the attacking left‑back before the Zweedse transfer market shuts, targeting a move to Stockholm. The club's interest is described as concrete, with a formal offer already on the table. Djurgården hopes to finalize the deal before the deadline on Monday 31 August at 23:59.

De Graafschap's contract leverage

Voor De Graafschap, Symons remains under contract until the summer of 2027, after an option for an extra season was exercised. His original deal ran to June 2026, but the club activated the extension, preserving the right to a transfer fee. The Superboeren are reviewing the Zweedse proposal and assessing the potential financial return.

Symons himself has expressed willingness to join Djurgården, viewing Sweden as a valuable next step in his development. He hopes De Graafschap will cooperate to make the move possible.

The Zweedse transfer window closes on Monday 31 August at 23:59, making the coming days decisive for both parties. Djurgården aims to complete the transaction before the deadline, while De Graafschap must decide quickly.

Symons began his football journey at RKHVV before moving to Vitesse’s youth academy at nineteen in 2014. He signed a three‑year contract with Vitesse in 2021 and joined the first‑team training camp at the end of 2022.

In the summer of 2024 he signed for De Graafschap on amateur terms, initially intended for the Under‑21 side, but his rapid development earned him a place in the first team. He made his professional debut on 1 September 2024 against Roda JC and secured his first professional contract in February 2025, now extending to summer 2027.
