Swansea chase record fee for Motherwell Just after World Cup double
Swansea City are close to finalising a transfer for 26‑year‑old New Zealand winger Elijah Just, who netted a double against Iran at the World Cup, according to a [Getty Images] photograph. The Championship club must meet a sizeable fee that would break Motherwell's record for a sum collected.
Just featured in all three All Whites' games at this summer's World Cup and scored three goals, including the two against Iran captured by Getty Images. His performances have drawn attention across Europe.
The 26‑year‑old is a New Zealand international and would join compatriot Marko Stamenic at Swansea should the move be completed. Both players now share a Welsh club destination.
Swansea will have to pay a sizeable fee and, in doing so, will set a new club record for Motherwell’s highest incoming transfer sum. The fee is described as sizeable but no exact figure is disclosed.
In addition to Swansea's interest, Just has also been linked with Celtic, indicating multiple suitors for his services after his World Cup breakout.
Just joined Motherwell in 2025 after spending the majority of his career playing in Denmark. His arrival marked a step up from the Austrian second tier to Scottish football.
During his spell at the Fir Park club, he made 43 appearances, scored seven goals and earned a nomination for Premiership Player of the Year, highlighting his impact at Motherwell.
His rise from the Austrian second tier to a World Cup double‑scorer underscores a rapid ascent, turning him into a highly sought‑after talent in the transfer market.
