Sunderland secures Roefs until 2031 as Utrecht loan Van Duijn

Robin Roefs, the 23‑year‑old goalkeeper, has extended his Sunderland contract until 2031, while forward Sem Van Duijn joins FC Utrecht on a season‑long loan with a purchase option, and striker Sam Lammers remains open to a return to PSV despite the Dutch club refusing to meet a €3 million asking price.

Roofs signs long‑term Sunderland deal

Sunderland rewarded Roefs for an impressive debut season by converting his short‑term deal into an open‑ended contract that now runs to 2031. The club had paid just over €10.5 million last summer to acquire the Heeswijk‑Dinther native from NEC. Roofs, originally from the Brabant region, will therefore remain at the Stadium of Light for the foreseeable future.

Van Duijn heads to Utrecht on loan

AZ Alkmaar have loaned 22‑year‑old attacker Sem Van Duijn to FC Utrecht for the 2024‑25 season, embedding an option to buy in the agreement. Van Duijn signed an extended contract with AZ until the summer of 2031 after the club purchased him from Quick Boys in 2024. He previously spent half a season on loan at Telstar, playing under Anthony Correia, who now manages Utrecht.

Lammers eyes PSV return amid price dispute

PSV have been negotiating the return of striker Sam Lammers, but the club’s supporters, the Tukkers, demanded more than €3 million for the player, a sum PSV are unwilling to meet. Lammers, who left Eindhoven in 2020 for Atalanta Bergamo for €10 million, said he is open to a comeback in Enschede. His agent is also working on a possible deal that would see him move from FC Twente to PSV in the short term.

Willem II have secured the services of 31‑year‑old midfielder Tonny Vilhena for a single season, bringing him back to the Netherlands after a stint at Panathinaikos. Vilhena, a former Feyenoord stalwart with fifteen caps for the Netherlands, will add experience to the Eredivisie side.

Couhaib Driouech is set to leave PSV and continue his career in Spain, ending his time with the Dutch club.

Liverpool are reported to be pursuing Ismaïla Sarr, while Manchester City have completed a €100 million transfer for Ayyoub Bouaddi.

The transfer of Jayden Oosterwolde from Fenerbahçe to AS Roma collapsed after medical issues emerged, and Go Ahead Eagles have added Croatian defender Tino Jukić to their squad. ADO Den Haag also completed the signing of defender Jonas Jensen‑Abbew on a contract running to the summer of 2030.
