Sun schedule – Switzerland must beat Israel away in World Cup playoff

Schedule So announces the timetable for the World Cup playoffs of the Swiss women's national team: the away match against Israel takes place on 9 October in Hungary, the return leg four days later at the Tourbillon in Sitten. The encounter is the first hurdle on the road to the 2027 World Cup in Brazil.

Since mid‑June it has been confirmed that Switzerland will meet Israel in the first round of the World Cup playoffs.

National coach Rafel Navarro presented the squad planning for the upcoming task at a press conference on Tuesday.

The selected players will meet on 5 October in Niederhasli, where they will set up their training base on the GC campus.

Travel and Venue

On Thursday, about 24 hours before kickoff, the national team travels to Budapest. The first leg will be played in the small town of Mezökövesd, roughly a 90‑minute drive from the Hungarian capital.

After the afternoon match the team returns to Switzerland. In Sitten further training sessions and media commitments take place between the two games. The images are from Isa Simsek.

If Switzerland gets past the first playoff round, a year‑end duel against Austria or Kosovo follows for a place in the World Cup group stage.

The 2027 Women's World Cup will take place from 24 June to 25 July in Brazil.
