Stuttgart’s €22m gamble to secure Wolfsburg’s Dzenan Pejcinovic

VfB Stuttgart have raised their bid for Wolfsburg’s 21‑year‑old striker Dzenan Pejcinovic to €22 million, inclusive of bonuses, at the club’s bustling training camp as they prepare for a Champions League campaign. The €22 million proposal, confirmed by the Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung, represents an improved package designed to seal the transfer.

Stuttgart’s push aims to replace the firepower they need to compete at the highest level in the Champions League, signalling a clear intent to strengthen their attack ahead of Europe’s elite competition.

The club’s earlier €18 million offer was rejected by the German Wolves, prompting Stuttgart to increase the figure to €22 million, an uplift that underscores their determination to secure the forward.

Pejcinovic scored 12 goals across all competitions last season despite Wolfsburg’s relegation from the Bundesliga, and he also features for Germany’s U21 side, adding international pedigree to his résumé.

Unverified rumours linked him with Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayer Leverkusen and Benfica, but the striker has indicated a preference to remain in the Bundesliga, narrowing his options to domestic clubs.

Wolfsburg, already reinforced for their 2. Bundesliga campaign, are likely to welcome the €22 million influx, which could aid the club as they aim to bounce back after relegation.

If the deal materialises, Stuttgart will acquire a proven Bundesliga forward to bolster their Champions League ambitions, while Wolfsburg will secure vital funds to support their push for promotion back to the top flight.
