Sturm’s late strike lifts Graz side past Altach in Saturday showdown

Under the bright lights of Stadion Graz‑Liebenau on Samstagabend, a sea of 14,715 fans watched as Seedy Jatta broke the deadlock for Sturm, his second Treffer in the 78th minute sealing a 1‑0 victory in the Fußball‑Bundesliga‑Heimspiel against Altach.

First half: Altach in control

Altach dominated the erste Hälfte, creating numerous chances and keeping Sturm on the back foot. Vorarlberger forward Patrick Greil tested Sturm‑Goalie Daniil Chudjakow, while Ousmane Diawara missed a free‑shot. The Altach Mannschaft held the lead in the half‑hour before the visitors finally entered the game.

Jatta’s decisive strike

In the second Hälfte Sturm grew in intensity, and Seedy Jatta emerged as the Goldtorschütze. After a corner at the 69th minute was disallowed, Jatta headed in the rebound at 78 minutes, his decisive Tor that rescued the Steirer side.

Points, rank and transfer ripples

The win gave Sturm seven Punkten from three Spielen, lifting the Team temporarily to Rang two in the league table. Altach, meanwhile, remain on three Zählern, leaving their SCR‑Coach Ognjen Zaric with work to do.

Trainer Fabio Ingolitsch fielded a side missing Jeyland Mitchell, who sits on the verge of a transfer. SCR‑Coach Ognjen Zaric explained that Mitchell was omitted because his Konzentration was not at 100 % for the Altach Spiel,

Altach suffered a further blow when offensive player Yann Massombo refused to travel to Graz. Das incident, described by Sportdirektor Philipp Netzer as "kurios und absolut nicht in Ordnung," occurred after a phone call the Tag before the match, prompting Massombo to miss the bus.

The match featured several key saves: Chudjakow denied attempts from Vesel Demaku and Srdjan Hrstic, while SCR‑Keeper Dejan Stojanovic was fouled by Luca Weinhandl. The decisive Tor came from a header, not a Fuß strike, and the final whistle marked the Ende of a tightly contested Heimspiel. Photo credit: SCHERIAU.

Looking ahead, Sturm will host Austria Lustenau next Samstag, while Altach welcome TSV Hartberg at home. Co‑ordinator duties will shift as both Die squads prepare for the upcoming fixtures, Im training ground and Bei the fans’ expectations.
