Stiller’s knee bruise eases concerns after Hoffenheim clash

VfB Stuttgart announced on Sunday that midfielder Angelot Stiller suffered a knee injury – a Knieverletzung – in Saturday’s Bundesliga‑Duell with TSG Hoffenheim, but the diagnosis revealed only a minor bruise, easing the club’s early worries.

Die Verletzung occurred after a Zusammenprall in the opponent’s Strafraum. In the clash the 25‑year‑old Mittelfeldspieler also received contact from TSG‑Verteidiger Ozan Kabak, leaving his Knie bruised.

Stiller continued to play, but after roughly zehn Minuten he signalled that he could not carry on. Coach Sebastian Hoeneß then removed him from the Feld in the 34th minute, replacing him with Youngster Yanik Spalt.

In an official statement the club said Stiller had “Glück im Unglück”, suffering only a Prellung and no serious damage. The exact length of his absence was not disclosed.

Hoeneß offers early reassurance

Immediately after the final whistle Hoeneß gave a slight Entwarnung, saying: “I only heard he has a Hämatom am Knie that affected him.” At that moment he did not know how dramatic the injury was.

Match ends in narrow defeat

Hoffenheim secured a 2‑1 victory, with Adam Hlozek scoring in the 13th and 67th minutes and Maximilian Mittelstädt adding a goal in the 48th. Stuttgart’s loss left them with three points after three matchdays.

The defeat also marked Hoffenheim’s first points of the season after opening losses to 1. FC Köln and Borussia Dortmund.
