Spurs remain goalless, low point after four Premier League duels

Tottenham Hotspur remained goalless on Saturday evening in a 0‑0 draw against Everton, leaving Roberto De Zerbi’s side still waiting for their first win and the first goal of the season. It was a historic low point: after four Premier League‑matches the club has not yet scored.

Historic low point for the club

Update: 3 min after kickoff Tottenham Hotspur reached a historic low point. For the first time in the club’s history the club has not scored after four Premier League‑matches. After four League‑matches the club remains without a goal. Likewise, Spurs, together with Coventry City, have not yet managed to score in the Premier League this season.

Chances and missed goals

With Micky van de Ven and Jan Paul van Hecke at the heart of the defence, Van Hecke was already close to his first scorer in the fifth minute. A free kick from Andy Robertson fell to the Dutchman, who struck over with a half‑volley. Later Mateus Fernandes, the Portuguese midfielder who arrived from West Ham United this summer, tried a shot on goal, but the ball had little pace and Jordan Pickford had nothing to do.

On the other side of the pitch Everton, through Thierno Barry, almost created a chance, but Antonín Kinský saved the ball. A careless pass from Kinský was collected by Kiernan Dewsbury‑Hall, who put the ball in the net, but Kinský made a crucial save. Shortly before the end Lucas Bergvall of Tottenham tried a long‑range shot, but Pickford jumped aside.

De Zerbi’s side is experiencing a modest start to the season and hoped to finally secure a win against The Toffees. However, without goals the club continues to search for the much‑needed breakthrough, while the fans responded cynically to the missed chances.

Spurs therefore remain without a first win and without a first goal of the season, a situation that makes the club and its supporters impatient as the competition continues.
