Sporting Charleroi lock Amine Boukamir down to 2030 as early season thrives
Under the floodlights of the Mambourg stadium, 19‑year‑old Amine Boukamir stepped onto the pitch with the roar of a crowd that had watched him grow from a youngster in the stands to a first‑team regular. The club announced on Tuesday that the defensive midfielder has signed a new deal that runs until 2030, extending the contract that was due to expire on 30 June 2027.
Contract details and early impact
The announcement came in a club communiqué that highlighted Boukamir’s progression through the Zèbres academy, where he has been since he was eight or nine years old. His previous agreement, signed in November 2025, had taken him to 2027 with an optional extra year. The new contract therefore adds three further seasons to his stay.
Coach Mario Kohnen has praised the youngster’s development, noting that Boukamir earned a place in the starting eleven for the first seven matches of the Pro League this season. His performances have helped Sporting Charleroi to a strong start, with six wins and only one defeat after seven rounds, sitting joint fourth on 18 points.
Player’s perspective
Boukamir expressed pride at signing the extension, saying, “I grew up in the stands of Mambourg dreaming of playing on this grass. To now wear the zebra colours is an immense honour.” He added that the second signature “has a special flavour” after years of growing within the club.
The midfielder also reflected on his rise following the departures of Yacine Titraoui and Étienne Camara, stating that the opportunity was seized and that he now feels fully integrated into the professional group.
Club’s long‑term vision
Sporting Charleroi’s statement described the deal as “a long‑term commitment that reflects the confidence placed in him and the club’s desire to continue supporting his development.” The club congratulated Boukamir and wished him continued success under the zebra banner.
