Sporting begins talks on Geny Catamo's contract renewal
Sporting Clube de Portugal will start talks to renew the contract of Mozambican international Geny Catamo, according to the newspaper A Bola. The club intends to extend the deal until 2031, offering a clear salary improvement, while the current contract expires in 2029.
Sunderland's offer and release clause
Sunderland showed interest in the winger, presenting a €30 million bid and promising a salary five times higher than the current one. Catamo's contract also includes a release clause set at €60 million.
Rui Borges considers Geny Catamo an indispensable element of his plans, emphasizing the importance of securing the player's stay in the squad.
The winger arrived at Alvalade in the 2019/20 season, initially on loan from Amora, and this season has already made seven appearances, with two goals scored and three assists.
Catamo's current deal ends in 2029, making the proposal to extend it until 2031 even more relevant for the club.
The information was released by the newspaper A Bola, which highlighted the green and white side's intention to extend the player's contract with improved salary terms.
