Spanish legend wants PSG to take Fabián Ruiz to the Ballon d'Or
As the race for the 2026 Ballon d'Or looks set to be fiercely contested, former Spanish international David Silva, back from retirement to play in the Hong Kong league, said that the legend's favorite should be Paris Saint‑Germain midfielder Fabián Ruiz.
David Silva's choice
"In the end, for me, collective success must take precedence over individual success, otherwise we don't win competitions. So if I had to give it to someone, I would give it to Fabián Ruiz," Silva said in an interview with Radio COPE. He points out that the player has won the most trophies in the past two years.
Ruiz lifted the Champions League with Paris Saint‑Germain and the World Cup with Spain, but he will not be crowned unless there is a major surprise, according to observers. The Ballon d'Or will be awarded on October 26 in London.
Paris Saint‑Germain, for its part, also highlights Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as serious candidates, thereby widening the field of its contenders.
In Spain, voices are rising for FC Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal and the captain of La Roja, Rodri, who appear to enjoy broad national support.
This contrast between the legend's view and the broader expectations highlights the diversity of opinions as the battle for the Ballon d'Or intensifies.
