Spalletti’s Juventus under pressure after dramatic Sassuolo loss

Juventus’s 3‑2 defeat in Serie A to Sassuolo has left Luciano Spalletti’s side under intense scrutiny, with the loss exposing deeper problems in the Bianconeri’s campaign. The stoppage‑time winner by loanee Vasilije Adzic came minutes after Edon Zhegrova’s brace‑level equaliser, sealing a dramatic reversal.

During the second half Sassuolo took the lead, forcing Juve to chase the game. Edon Zhegrova restored parity, completing a personal brace, but Vasilije Adzic struck in added time to clinch the win for the visitors.

Identity crisis hampers Juventus

Luciano Spalletti built a clear identity at Napoli and later at Inter, guiding both clubs to trophies with limited resources. At Juventus, however, he has yet to establish a distinct playing style, a goal set out at the start of the season that remains unfulfilled. The absence of a coherent identity has long troubled the Old Lady and continues to undermine the Bianconeri.

Midfield injuries and attack woes

Juve’s midfield has been ravaged by injuries, with Pape Sarr’s fitness issues, Douglas Luiz’s subdued display and Teun Koopmeiners’s continued disappointment all contributing to a lack of an anchor. Weston McKennie also remains sidelined, leaving the team reliant on the eventual return of Manuel Locatelli to stabilise the centre of the park.

In attack, Randal Kolo Muani has yet to find the net, despite providing an assist on Sunday, while newcomer Nick Woltemade has not started a match. The French striker’s goal drought forces Juventus to depend on occasional scorers such as Bremer and Federico Gatti, a situation Spalletti himself highlighted after the recent Frosinone win.

Looking ahead, Juventus must resolve their identity deficit, reinforce a depleted midfield and rediscover scoring form if they are to improve their standing in Serie A. The next league fixture offers a chance for the Bianconeri to halt the slide and restore confidence.
