Spain’s Roma line up €55m bid for Ezzalzouli as Betis’ clause looms

AS Roma have opened negotiations with Real Betis to sign 24‑year‑old Moroccan winger Abde Ezzalzouli, proposing €55 million plus €5 million in bonuses – a package that matches Betis’ €60 million release clause, according to the Spanish newspaper Sport.es. The Giallorossi see the deal as a concrete summer move for the player.

The club’s focus shifted to Ezzalzouli after talks for Antonio Nusa stalled, with Leipzig remaining firm on its financial demands, Sport.es reports. Roma therefore redirected resources toward the Moroccan winger, hoping his profile fits their attacking plans.

Betis, the Andalusian club, has indicated willingness to let the player depart if the €60 million figure is met and the player consents. The club’s stance reflects the release clause’s binding nature and the potential financial gain.

While Newcastle United remains keenly interested and Aston Villa’s interest has reportedly cooled, the player has also received offers from Saudi Arabia. Nevertheless, Ezzalzouli is said to prefer continuing his career in Europe, according to the Catalan newspaper’s reconstruction.

Barcelona retains a 20 percent stake in Ezzalzouli and could earn roughly €11 million should the transfer materialise, adding another financial dimension to the negotiations.

If Roma succeed, they will add a dynamic winger to their squad, while Betis could secure the full release‑clause payment and Barcelona would collect its share. For the Moroccan international, the move promises a continuation of his European career at a club eager to meet his valuation.
