Spain dominate at Wembley, Tuchel admits crucial errors

Thomas Tuchel, head coach of the British national team, said he does not regret anything and that he did everything possible to beat such a strong side. He emphasized that, despite the effort, obvious mistakes compromised the result.

The coach highlighted that details matter at this level, pointing out the loss of possession in the last 20 metres that allowed Spain to create clear goal‑scoring chances.

In the second half, Harry Kane missed a penalty, after his header and Anthony Gordon’s counter‑attack goal, four minutes apart, had put England ahead before the break.

Tuchel analysed those moments, observing that the Spanish team was more cynical and composed, turning ball losses into scoring opportunities.

"Today we did everything possible to beat Spain. At this level details matter. Unfortunately we made too many obvious mistakes. In the last 20 metres they were more cynical and composed, turning our ball losses into clear goal‑scoring chances. However, we had chances and scored two goals and we had our chance to beat them"

Tuchel explained that, despite the defeat, the team created several chances and scored two goals.

"We will keep giving our all. At the World Cup we have shown we can do it in tournaments as well. Today we cannot prove it with the result, but I believe the way we played was enough to beat them"

The coach concluded by assuring that the team will continue to work with the same intensity for the upcoming challenges.

The defeat at Wembley marks a step back, but Tuchel remains convinced that England’s style of play is sufficient to compete at the highest level.
